Eyes have been on the current star, Kwon Sangwoo as he has a surprising kiss scene with SNSD Yoona in the MBC Wednesday, Thursday drama 'Cinderella Man'.
'Cinderella Man' that will end on the 4th has given hints to the TV viewers that the major male and female characters, Kwon Sangwoo and Yoona will have kiss scenes and end in a happy ending. However, the producer said that no one knows the ending and have been keeping his lips tight on whether or not Oh Daesan (played by Kwon Sangwoo) and Seo Yoojin (played by Yoona) will happily reunite.
In 'Cinderella Man', Kwon Sangwoo moves on from his recent failures and shows his charisma as a romantic guy. His previous work 'My Tutor Friend' as a comedy movie displayed fantastic teamwork with the top star, Kim Haneul, but in this drama, he meets Yoona as his new partner and has been evaluated as showing his experience in acting.
On the 30th of the last month, Yoona who turned 20 years old (in Korean age) filmed her very first kiss scene as an actress right the next day which showed her maturity as an adult after her coming-of-age ceremony. Yoona wrote a greeting on her official homepage saying 'I don't like how I don't have the opportunity to meet my fans because I'm busy with the drama' and uploaded a picture with a cake sent by her fans without any make-up.
'Cinderella Man' took place in the Dongdaemoon market, the number 1 shopping market that’s popular both day and night in Korea, as a drama where Kwon Sangwoo displayed his burning passion for acting by playing 2 different roles at once for the first time.
He played Lee Junhee who is a timid fashion plutocrat and as Oh Daesan who has a burning ambition for his clothing store in Dongdaemoon while Yoona played Yoojin who encountres both love and dream of Daesun and overcomes being double-hearted to seek love.
'Cinderella Man' is a very important piece of work for both and other actors. As an actress, Yoona took first steps forward, which were more of a burden due to her daily drama 'You're My Destiny' that had a high program rating while Kwon Sangwoo needed this to recover from his failed drama, 'Bad Love'.
Although Hwang Jungmin-Kim Ahjoong's 'Babo' and Cha Seungwon-Kim Sunah's 'City Hall' and etc have jumped in the tense competition with the Wednesday, Thursday dramas, 'Cinderella Man' was confirmed to have a steady audience and recognized to be a well-made drama.

[04.23.09] 'Cinderella Man' Yoona's Rising Acting Skills 'Viewers Cry and Laugh'

Of all the actors from MBC's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Cinderella Man', Yoona's acting is recieving a favorable reception by the viewers.
The third episode of "Cinderella Man", which aired on the 22nd, shows Seo Yoojin(Yoona) endure troubles and tears as she takes the role of the head of her household, and her will to stand up again as she looks for work. Yoona's emotional acting caught the viewers' attention.
The unfortunate situation: After suddenly losing her father, Yoojin, who was studying abroad in Paris in a famous fashion school, becomes a merchant in Dondaemun. Her father's only store being taken by moneylenders, and her mother's hospital bills are problems that worry her daily.
Yoojin has to sell the remaining stock; but having lost her stall, and without the help of Oh Daesan(Kwon Sangwoo), she doesn't have the courage to sell on the streets by herself. Hesitating and just sitting around, Yoojin gains some strength by drinking some alcohol and starts talking in a louder voice. She copies Daesan's "Unnie~e, look at these clothes", shouting and catching peoples' attention, and she even does a comical rendition of Lee Hyori's 'U-go-Girl'.
Holding clothes in both hands, shouting "What kind of clothes should I wear today, how about this one or that one, don't worry worry~", and happily shaking her head, Yoojin catches the attention of the crowd and the viewers.
Again, in today's episode, Yoona's emotional acting moved the audience. After picking up her mother, who was just released from the hospital, they return home but start to cry because everything there reminds them of Yoojin's father. Yoojin hardens her will and says firmly, "Don't worry about anything, I will do my best. I'm not a child anymore. I'll definitely stand up again and take you, Mom, with me to Paris."
Seeing Yoojin struggle and in tears, fighting against the adversities to help her sick mother, is a situation that just tugs people hearts.
After that day's broadcast of "Cinderella Man", viewers left favorable comments of Yoona's acting in the bulletin board. "We were crying and laughing in sync with Yoona's acting."; "Even though it's only her second big role her acting skills have improved a lot, there's no awkwardness at all."; "Watching her dance crazily to U-Go-Girl was extremely cute."; "Her crying scenes were the best."; were some of the messages posted, showing a warm reception to Yoona's delicate emotional acting.
On the other hand, the audience has lots of expectations of the love-line between Yoojin and Daesan, who dreams of being successful in Dongdaemun, and their growing relationship.

Yoona expresses her "Will for Acting" by actually drinking during filming
Yoona expressed her overwhelming will for acting by actually drinking alcohol during her filming of MBC midweek drama, "Cinderella Man".
The scene where she drinks is during the part with Yoojin (Yoona) returns to Korea after studying abroad at EsMod Fashion School in Paris after her father's death. Yoojin starts working in the markets of the Great East Gate, running her parent's clothing store but situation turns bad when she is confronted with debts and eviction of the store. She sets up a street vendor with Oh Daesan (Kwon Sangwoo) and is crying and complaining to him about her situation. This scene can be seen on Episode 2 will air on the 16th.
The rumor states that Yoona voluntarily drank to fully bring out her emotions and mood required for the filming.
The staff who were present at the filming site complimented Yoona upon her strong will. After Yoona finished filming for that scene she said she doesn't understand why guys would drink this bitter Soju(alcohol), shaking her head in puzzlement.

Yoona saw her first episode of "Cinderella Man" with her rest of the members, SNSD.
On the 15th, Yoona and her members all went to their dorm and watched Yoona's Cinderella Man.
A staff from SM Entertainment said, "Even though she was very busy, she got to watch her 1st episode with her members and was able to monitor her acting. She noticed that she was very nervous in that episode. After finish watching first episode of 'Cinderella Man' she said she needs work harder on her acting".
As other members watched the drama, they cheered for her time to time; the girls thought it was fun and enjoyed a lot.
According to the company, Yoona was very determined during this drama. And that Yoona will be greatly represented as a great actress and a singer.
In Cinderella Man, Yoona is Seo Yoojin, a designer. Unfortunately, after Seo Yoojin found out that her father suddenly passed away, she had to drop out from the prestigious fashion school in France and come back to Korea, where she works hard at East Gate market.

Not so smooth for cinderella man....
Even though SNSD’s Yoona and Kwon Sangwoo were casted for MBC’s new Weds/Thurs drama ‘Cinderella Man’(CM), it seems like their casting has nothing to do with the viewer’s rating for this drama.
According to AGB media’s research, on 15th, CM had 7.7% viewer’s rating. Prior to CM, last episode of ‘The Return of Iljimae’ had 8.8% viewer’s rating.
On the other hand, according to TNS Media Korea, they reported a higher viewer’s rating for CM; on 15th it had 9.3% viewer’s rating, which is higher than ‘The Return of Iljimae’s viewer’s rating of 8.2%.
However, viewer’s rating for CM was significantly less than SBS’s ‘Cain and Abel’ which had 17.4%; ‘Cain and Abel’ airs at the same time as CM.
